Site Selection Magazine's November edition includes a dozen location spotlights that include WorkKeys NCRC growth trends to demonstrate workforce quality. Features include Kansas, the Dakotas, Virginia, Nebraska, New York, Mississippi, Washington, and Wyoming.
Beauregard Parish is now certified as an ACT Work Ready Community. Through the efforts of Lisa Adams, Glenda Dean, Randy Cline and the rest of the Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce, this parish is now nationally recognized for its workforce.
Louisana Department of Education released the 2018 School Performance Scores (SPS) for K-12 schools showing that DeRidder High School earned a letter grade of “A” with a 94.7 performance score. In addition, the school was named a “Top Gain Honoree” and earned an “A” for progress under the new scoring system. All high schools are evaluated based on 25 percent assessment performance and progress, 25 percent ACT/WorkKeys, 25 percent strength of diploma and 25 percent cohort graduation rate.
The Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce has been awarded a grant to fund the WorkKeys program within the parish. The grant was a Delta Regional Authority State’s Economic Development Assistance Program (SEDAP) grant for workforce training and development.
A luncheon was held today, at the Grace Church Champion Center in DeRidder, to educate area employers about the ACT Work Ready initiative. Beauregard Parish is getting involved in this program in an effort to boost job skills and get more people into the workforce.
