Site Selection Magazine's November edition includes a dozen location spotlights that include WorkKeys NCRC growth trends to demonstrate workforce quality. Features include Kansas, the Dakotas, Virginia, Nebraska, New York, Mississippi, Washington, and Wyoming.

The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) was recently recognized at the ACT Workforce Summit in Atlanta, Georgia for having 13 counties maintaining or achieving their Certified Work Ready Community status in the past year.

Missouri currently leads the nation with a total of 99 Certified Work Ready Communities and 112 communities that are participating and working towards certification.

Rolla job seekers between the ages of 14-24 now have the opportunity to gain virtual work experience through The Career Club. Individuals will earn $11 an hour while participating in the virtual training and transition to a minimum wage of $12 an hour following work experience placement. 

After pauses mandated by COVID, The Missouri Apprenticeship Manufacturing Program in Callaway is ready to resume training. Interested participants should bring the desired NCRC-level with either a high school diploma or equivalency.

Local leaders and luminaries gathered Tuesday to celebrate Callaway County's recognition as a Certified Work Ready Community.

"It took a lot of help," Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann said of the process.

For the past 2 years, he and many others in the community have worked to achieve the work-ready status as part of the Missouri Certified Work Ready Communities initiative. Bruce Hackmann, economic development director at the Callaway Chamber of Commerce, and chamber Executive Director Tamara Tateosian were among those closely involved in the process.
