The Show Me State Excels in Work Ready Communities October 30, 2024

The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) was recently recognized at the ACT Workforce Summit in Atlanta, Georgia for having 13 counties maintaining or achieving their Certified Work Ready Community status in the past year.

Missouri currently leads the nation with a total of 99 Certified Work Ready Communities and 112 communities that are participating and working towards certification.

Missouri Job Center Celebrates New Lake Location At State Fair Community College September 30, 2021

Multiple local Chambers of Commerce held a joint ribbon cutting on Friday to celebrate the Lake Area Satellite Missouri Job Center's new location at the State Fair Community College Lake Campus. Two testimonials were shared during the event, both identifying the value of a community becoming “Certified Work Ready” from different perspectives. First attendees heard from Morgan County R-1 Superintendent Matt Unger. Unger shared the value of administering the WorkKeys test from a student’s perspective. He continued sharing how it provides non-college bound graduates and additional credential, a National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC), to graduate with alongside their diploma. Certified Graduates can then utilize their NCRC when applying for employment. The certificate will identify and validate to the employer what skill set that applicant is at.  

Residents will earn $11 an hour while participating in Rolla Job Center's new virtual program August 17, 2021

Rolla job seekers between the ages of 14-24 now have the opportunity to gain virtual work experience through The Career Club. Individuals will earn $11 an hour while participating in the virtual training and transition to a minimum wage of $12 an hour following work experience placement.
