A smart effort to boost job skills and get more people into the workforce is moving forward in the Omaha area. The initiative promotes the National Career Readiness Certificate, which helps potential employers see job seekers proficiency in math, reading and other topics.

Officials say that being a Workforce Ready Community means showing local employers what Mesa County's skilled work force looks like.
