A high percentage of local public school seniors are prepared to enter the workforce, according to the results of the ACT WorkKeys test they took last year as 11th-graders. Four of six local districts had 80 percent or more students earn a National Career Readiness Certificate.
Participating in the ACT Work Ready Communities (WRC) initiative helps county and state leaders build and strengthen workforce development efforts, while that participation is growing nationwide. These findings were included in a report released today at the third annual ACT Work Ready Communities Best Practices Symposium.
County leaders were asked for their opinions about the ACT WRC initiative, while ACT NCRC holders were asked for their opinions about the certificate. Businesses were asked for their opinions about both the ACT WRC and the ACT NCRC.
